What is a Girl to Girls Chapter?

A Girl to Girls chapter is a branch off of our main organization that includes a group of students who are passionate about creating writing and art to help students across the world. Whether it is a small group of friends, a neighborhood, a community group, or a school club, every chapter is crucial to our mission.

Chapter leads will have a lot of flexibility with how they would like to run their chapter. For instance, chapter leads can begin their own book club, host literary / art presentations and sessions for submissions, or run their own independent projects through the GTGS name!

Benefits of Creating a GTGS Chapter:

1. Help the mission of aiding women everywhere through advocacy work and writing / art opportunities.

2. Work with other women around the globe that are interested in feminism and join a community effort.

3. Gain the opportunity to lead a team within your school with the aid of our chapter resources, and apply to our Executive board in coming years.

4. Expand your knowledge in female advocacy and make a space for female and genderqueer voices in your area.

Setting up your chapter:

1. Find a group of at minimum, 4-5 interested students for your chapter:

  • Each chapter should hold 1-2 leaders.

2. Register your Girl to Girls Stories chapter.

  • If your application review is urgent, please email us at girlstogirlsstories@gmail.com, and we will do our best to review your application within a week.

4. Finalize your officers and recruit members!

  • If you have been chosen as a state or regional chapter, you will be tasked with outreach both within your school and to other schools in your area. On any scale, recruiting members and and creating a substantial club is essential, so make sure to advertise in your school newsletter, news show, magazine, or other available forms of communication. Each chapter must run and have an Instagram, with the title [girltogirls.stories.(chapter school or area)].

5. Plan your goals and event ideas:

  • Each chapter should pursue at least one alternative initiative, and should plan it out in the beginning of the year. During our chapter board meetings, chapter leads should bring their event ideas that range from leading campaigns for female advocacy, hosting GTGS events and fundraisers, creating mentorship programs and a female centered curriculum, and more.

  • Create incentives that are particular to your area. If abortion rights are not protected in your area, then you can host a campaign, march, etc for your chapter. If your school is nearby a hospital, then begin a mentorship program with the young girls there. Our organization's mission is to unite all women across the globe, but also allow for women to take on leadership roles within their community and leverage their skills to think and create out of the box.
